Officer Easton Botkins and Officer Noah Kleese with the Washington Police Department graduated from the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy on December 13th. The WPD Command Staff was joined by City Councilor Elaine Moore at the graduation ceremony in Johnston. In addition to their academy certifications, both officers received special awards for their performance during the 16-week training: Officer Botkins was recognized for excelling in the physical training program and was one of two members of the class to receive the 300 Point Club award. The criteria for this recognition requires the officer to run the one-and-a-half mile course in nine minutes or less, perform 20 or more pull-ups and perform 80 or more sit-ups in two minutes or less. Officer Kleese was recognized for his firearms proficiency, scoring 100% in all qualifications and receiving the 317th Basic Class Top Shooter award.
