Nearly 93 percent of Iowa is experiencing drought conditions at this time. According to the U.S. Drought Monitor’s most recent report, 1.3 percent of Iowa is in severe drought located in the northwestern corner of the state, 63.13 percent is in moderate drought, and 92.8 percent is abnormally dry. All of Washington County is abnormally dry. All of Keokuk and Jefferson counties are abnormally dry. Portions of Henry, Louisa, Johnson, and Iowa counties are abnormally dry with some areas in moderate drought.

So far this month, Washington has received 1.17 inches of precipitation, slightly above the normal amount. In addition, Washington has had 1.4 inches of snow, nearly an inch below the normal amount for the first 18 days of December. Listen to KCII for weather updates.
