The Domestic Violence Intervention Program/ Rape Victim Advocacy Program gave their annual report to the Washington County Board of Supervisors at their recent meeting. Director of Community Engagement Alta Medea gave the report on Washington County, “We have also taken on the sexual assault services from the University of Iowa Rape Victim Advocacy Program on October first and since October first, just in the first few months of this transition we’ve served eight individuals with sexual assault advocacy services in Washington County alone. Our numbers for domestic violence advocacy have remained pretty consistent, we did not see an increase over the last year. So we have served in Washington the City 89 individuals and in the county 101 individuals with domestic violence services.” The funding request from DVIP/RVAP is for $2,500 and will go towards the continued support of domestic violence survivors and rape victim services in Washington County.
