The Washington Demon boys’ basketball team got an early Christmas present when they knocked off Williamsburg 53-51 this past Saturday for their fourth straight win.
Washington went blow-for-blow with a Class 3A state tournament qualifier from last season, only trailing by three points at halftime and never falling behind by more than eight.
The Demons went on a run to rally from that deficit and tie the game at the end of the third quarter, and even after the Raiders went back in front by four, a 10-0 run in the final period would give Washington a lead they would never surrender.
Sophomore Nic Stone led the scoring for the Demons with 12 points, making three three-point baskets along the way while also coming up with four rebounds and two steals.
Senior Logan McDole had 11 points and a team-high five assists, while Rajan Roth finished with 10 points and six rebounds and fellow sophomore Drew Conrad scored nine points to help Washington improve to 5-3.
The Demon girls would not have the same luck, falling to seventh-ranked Williamsburg 43-13. Junior Addison Miller led the team by scoring five points, but Washington still falls to 3-6.
Both Demon teams will have their first games of 2025 next Friday night when they host conference rival Fort Madison. You can catch Washington Demon basketball on KCII January 3rd starting at 5:30 p.m. on 106.1 FM and streaming on KCIIradio.com and the KCII1 app.
