As part of a weekend of high school wrestling action, the Washington Demons produced an individual winner Friday at the Saber Girls’ Invitational in DeWitt.
Senior Peggy Miller won the championship at 145 pounds for Washington, winning by fall against all four opponents she wrestled to imporve her record this season to 20-5. Sophomore Ryha Wellington also finished fourth at 140 lbs for the Demons.
Reanah Utterback brought home a title for Sigourney-Keota as well Saturday at the Charger Invitational in Chariton. The senior and reigning state champion remained undefeated with four pins at 115 lbs.
Sadie Clarahan finished fourth at 125 for SK, as did fellow sophomore Karley Greiner at 170, while freshman Izzy McCullough was sixth at 100 lbs and sophomore Kia Montgomery took seventh at 130.
Elyssa Graber led WACO by finishing third at 105 lbs at Chariton, while fellow senior Rylee Rice was fourth at 110. Freshman Addison Alliman and Bella Bonar were each eighth for the Warriors at 100 and 120, respectively.
The Columbus/Winfield-Mount Union girls’ wrestling team competed Saturday at the Bubba Randles Winter Classic in Cedar Rapids and had two medalists. Freshman Aubrey Valencia was fifth at 120 lbs for the Wildcats, while senior Josie Nelson took eighth place at 140.
