There are new informational signs on the Ding Darling interpretive trail at Lake Darling State Park near Brighton. The trail from the campground to the parking lot above the lodge has 10 signs. KCII spoke with Friends of Lake Darling Board President Don Kline to learn more about the completion of this project. “Well the Ding Darling interpretive trail is the last project we just completed. We put the signs up. It took several years because we had to put in concrete sidewalk between the lodge area and the camp ground. There was no trail there. And then we got a grant from the Brinton Trust to help with the signs, and then we got together with the state. The whole object is to try and highlight his life and work with conservation.” As you walk the Ding Darling interpretive trail you will learn about how the conservationist Darling viewed our natural resources, worked to educate the public, and was a champion for making a difference for the natural environment by asking each person to do their part. This project was partly funded by grants from the Brinton Trust and the Washington County Riverboat Foundation.
