A semi-truck and a train collided south of Main Amana on Thursday morning. According to the Iowa County Sheriff’s Office, at 9:02 a.m. dispatch received an emergency call reporting a semi-truck versus train collision happened on U.S. Highway 151. A semi-truck that was southbound driven by 19-year-old Jackson Von Ahsen of South Amana, and owned by Zuber Grain LLC, failed to notice the eastbound train approaching the crossing. The railroad warning lights were flashing and a southbound pickup truck was stopped at the railroad crossing. The semi sideswiped the pickup truck and collided with the train. There were no injuries. The 2007 Kenworth semi was a total loss, there was damage to the pickup truck, and the train had approximately $2,000 in damage. Von Ahsen was cited for failing to stop at an active train crossing.
