A Mid-Prairie junior duo has been recognized for their work on the field during the recent record-setting season for the Golden Hawk football program. The Hawks Hudson Ehrenfelt and Kaden Kos have been named First Team All-State in Class 2A by the Iowa Football Coaches Association.
Ehrenfelt was a First-team selection at the offensive utility position. He was second in Class 2A with 242 carries and 26 rushing touchdowns. Ehrenfelt’s 1,827 all-purpose yards were fourth most in 2A, his 28 total touchdowns, seventh as were his 1,365 rush yards. Ehrenfelt was named First-team All-District and District 5 Offensive MVP. Through his junior season he ranks among the top 10 in Mid-Prairie history for career and single season numbers in 11 different categories.
Kos was a First-team selection at linebacker. Kos led 2A with 159 tackles, setting the school record for a single year. His 23 tackles for loss were third most in 2A. He is the Mid-Prairie record holder with 287 stops in his career. He was named District 5 Defensive MVP and First-Team All-District linebacker. Kos ranks in the top 10 in Mid-Prairie history in six different season and career stats.
The Golden Hawks finished the year as undefeated district champions for the first time since 2008, advancing to the quarterfinals of the 2A playoffs for the first time in 16 years, ending with a 7-4 record.
