A Washington County-based attorney has had their license suspended from practicing law based on violations. According to the Iowa Supreme Court Attorney Disciplinary Board, Patricia Lipski’s license to practice law has been suspended for 30 days. Documents state that the disciplinary matter demonstrates failure in “attempts at progressive discipline to prevent a lawyer from continuing to miss filing deadlines in appeals.”

The disciplinary matters arises from a client’s request to file a notice of appeal for termination of parental rights and subsequent issues related to meetings and filings that were delayed and missed deadlines. The Iowa Supreme Court Attorney Disciplinary Board filed a complaint regarding multiple violations of the Iowa Rules of Professional Conduct against Lipski with the grievance commission.

The violations of the rules of professional conduct that the Board charged Lipski with were related to diligence, communication, expediting litigation, misrepresentation, and misconduct prejudicial to the administration of justice. Lipski testified about the circumstances regarding the situation. She also had private admonitions in 2018 and 2020, followed by a public reprimand in 2023, according to the court documents. The report was filed on December 13, 2024, for the 30-day suspension.
