One of the top wrestlers for the Washington Demons will be continuing his career at the next level. Aaron Boone recently signed to join the wrestling team at Loras College in Dubuque next season.
After a career that has included two state medals and over 150 victories at Washington, Boone tells KCII Sports why he feels like his next step is to suit up for the Duhawks.
“After state wrestling [last season],” Boone says, “Coach [Jeren] Glosser, who is the head coach, reached out to me and told me how they were interested in me. Throughout the summer, I’ve been able to go up there a couple of times, just to see how it is, and I really like the campus.”
“As well, I want to major in kinesiology, and they have a program up there that [means] I can get my masters in five years, so it’s both the wrestling and the academics side, as well.”
Boone says getting to wrestle in college will be realizing a goal he’s had for a long time.
“Since I was young, I’ve always wanted to wrestle in college,” he says. “I’ve been doing wrestling since I was three [years old], so it’s just to see that I can continue doing it for at least four more years. I’ve always watched my cousin wrestle, and so I’ve kind of liked the decision to go [Division] III.”
Boone is currently a perfect 20-0 in his senior season with the Demons and is ranked second in the state in Class 2A in the 132-pound weight class.
