After a delivering a 1-2 team punch at the 2024 Class 2A Iowa State Cross Country Meet, the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys and girls recently received some individual hardware. Seven total boys and girls runners were named All-State by the Iowa Association of Track Coaches. Four members of the Golden Hawk girls team earned the honor including first team sophomore Brooklyn Stutzman in eighth with her time of 19:20 at State, followed by freshman Rachel Hostetler 14th in 19:28 and sophomore Kendal Landstrum 15th in 19:29. Freshman Tessa Brokaw was a second team choice at 20:07 in 29th. The Golden Hawk girls won the Class 2A State Team Championship for the sixth time in the last eight seasons.
The Golden Hawk boys had a trio of senior runners reach All-State status, led by Emmett Swartzentruber. The former 2A individual State Champ finished in 15:56, fourth place at Fort Dodge this year, and was named both first team and Elite All-State. Fellow senior Preston Yutzy was a first team selection in 2A at 14th in 16:28 and Jayse Yoder was a second teamer in 16:55, 21st place. The Golden Hawks were Class 2A team runners-up, their best finish since 2016.
