As part of a busy weekend of high school girls’s wrestling, Peggy Miller added another tournament championship to her excellent senior season for the Washington Demons.
With a victory by fall in the semifinals and a 9-4 decision in the championship bout, Miller won the title at 145 pounds for Washington at Saturday’s Keokuk Invitational.
A fourth tournament title this season improved Miller’s overall record to 22-5. Sophomores Nora Stoutner and Ryha Wellington also finished third for the Demons at 125 and 135 lbs, respectively.
Sigourney-Keota senior Reanah Utterback was once again a winner as well at the Megan Black Invitational in Eddyville, winning three times by pin and once by technical knockout at 115 lbs to remain undefeated.
Sophomore Sadie Clarahan took fourth place at 125 for SK at Eddyville. Freshman Aubrey Valencia was fifth at 125 for Columbus/Winfield-Mount Union, as was sophomore teammate Rozlynn Garza at 130.
Athena Flores earned third at 115 lbs to lead WACO at the BGM Holiday Brawl in Brooklyn, while fellow senior Cayten Coakley was fifth at 125. Senior Kayleigh Rundlett ended up fourth for Lone Tree at 135, as did sophomore Olivia Magruder at 130 and junior Ashlynn Sojka at 235, while senior Alex Dautremont finished fifth at 140.
