The WACO Warriors swept a basketball doubleheader with Southeast Iowa Super Conference rival Wapello last night in Wayland. The WACO girls won 51-36, responding to a one-point deficit at the end of the first quarter with a 13-3 run, taking a 21-12 lead into halftime and stretching their advantage to as large as 17 points in the second half.

Senior Ella Huisenga led the Warriors in scoring with 13 points, while sophomore Brenna Graber had 11 points as WACO improves to 7-2 in the Super Conference North and 7-3 overall.

The Warrior boys also fell behind in the first period but rallied to take a 23-22 lead by the half, and an 11-4 run to start the third quarter pushed WACO further in front on their way to a 50-40 victory.

Junior Christian Stacy paced the scoring for the Warriors with 16 points, while sophomore Isaac Egli added 10 to keep WACO undefeated in conference play and raise their overall record to 8-1. Both Warrior teams next play tomorrow evening, with the boys traveling to North Linn and the girls hosting Iowa Valley.
