The City of Kalona had its first meeting of 2025 earlier this week. The city council discussed increasing charges for all cemeteries that are owned by the city. The staff was directed to make changes to  the fee structure.

Currently the cost for a plot in a Kalona cemetery ranges from $175 to $250. Once the staff has a new plan to propose, they will present it to the council at a later meeting.

The City maintains four cemeteries, two of which have no plots available.
