A trio of local boys schools tackled a tough field Saturday at Highland High School for the Gary Curtis Invitational.
The WACO Warriors had the top local team finish, placing 10th of 15 schools with 72 points. Alburnett won the team title with 322. The Warriors crowned a pair of champs Saturday with Ian Maize the winner at 106lbs, taking the title by 8-2 decision over Levi Evans of Mount Pleasant. Louden Huisenga brought home gold at 190lbs with a sudden victory win over Andy Franke of Muscatine 4-1. Gage Samo was third for the Warriors at 113.
Mid-Prairie was 11th as a team with 61.5 points. Leaders for the Hawks were Tommy Miller at 215lbs and Burke Berry at 285 both placing third.
Highland was 13th with 33.5 points. Top dogs for the Huskies were Cash Cole and Brock Thomann both fifth at 113 and 126.
