The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys and girls basketball teams invaded Williamsburg Monday and came away with a rivalry game split. The Golden Hawk boys were an 80-65 winner. Leading 15-13 after one, the Hawks exploded with 33 in the second quarter, including a stretch of 19 straight points, made up of five straight three point possessions, to take a 48-30 lead into half. After break, Williamsburg cut the margin to 12, but Mid-Prairie answered with an 8-0 run, replenishing the 20 point lead and taking home the win. Golden Hawk of the Game Hudson Ehrenfelt joined the KCII Postgame Show live to talk about his night and the win.

Ehrenfelt said, “Right away we just set the tone. We were the more physical team. Later in the game, we just started running away with it. (It was important for me) to go to the rim, get putbacks and take it to them. This is fun. All of the guys are making shots, every is cheering for each other. It’s fun to be on a team like that!”

The Hawks hit 10 threes, won the boards by seven and turnovers 12-8. Four Mid-Prairie players got to double figures led by Bryce Henry’s 23 points, his eighth straight game with 20 or more, to go with seven rebounds. Brady Weber had 18 points, Ehrenfelt and Ace Peck had 14 each. Dylan Weisskopf scored 23 for the Raiders. The win moves the Hawks to 9-1 as Williamsburg falls to 3-7.

The Golden Hawk girls fell in the opening to No. 7 Williamsburg 64-49. The game was even at 12 at the end of one, but the Raiders used a 10-0 run in the second quarter to build an 11 point halftime lead at 32-21. Mid-Prairie put together a 10-0 run of their own in the third to get back within six, but Williamsburg did enough to pull away for the 15 point win. The Raiders won rebounding by nine and turnovers 21-12. Carly Rich had 17 for Williamsburg. Morgyn Bender and Jeorgia Evans scored 11 apiece for the Hawks. The Mid-Prairie girls are now 8-2 as Williamsburg improves to 10-2.
