The start of a new year means reports and funding requests were the main topics of the most recent Washington County Board of Supervisors meeting. The Supervisors heard from General Assistance which was taken over by HACAP last year. Representative RenElla Crawford gave the report for the program, “So in doing these, I’ve found that very few people qualify based on income. I had quite a few inquiries about general assistance. And when I talked to them about the income eligibility, most of them, or all of them were over income, so they have not applied, and I think you are going to find the numbers are quite low. Fortunately I have funds that I can help people with if they don’t qualify for this (general assistance).” The funding request was for the amount of $1,200 and it is the same amount that was previously requested of the Supervisors.
