The Henry County Sheriff’s Office is alerting citizens of a phone scam. According to Henry County Sheriff Rich McNamee, the clerk of the courts office has been contacted by people in the last few weeks regarding a scam. Citizens explained they had been contacted by phone by the Henry County Sheriff’s Office for missing jury duty.

The fraudulent caller is reportedly saying that if the victims don’t pay a fine immediately over the phone, they will be arrested. The Henry County Sheriff’s office does not request payment via phone for missing jury duty.

The Henry County Sheriff’s Office states that if you receive such a call, do not send money, report it to your local law enforcement.
