Over 2,000 people were in the Washington Fire station last Wednesday when the Department held their annual pancake breakfast fundraiser. KCII spoke with pancake committee co-chair Andy Miller to hear about the success of the day, “We were extremely busy, the lunch crowd this year, it was a little higher than normal. I think we served during the day about 900 people. Total for the whole day was 2200 which is the high side of our average.”  With this being the biggest fundraiser of the year for the Department, Miller shared how the funds will be utilized, “The money is going to go to new ventilation fans, it is a need for us. And then some battery tools, so there are some rescue tools that you can either use hydraulic lines, or you can use battery, and obviously if you have batteries, you can just grab it and run down to where you need to go and not have to worry about having to drag a generator and hydraulics and all of that other stuff with you. It will be a good thing for Washington Fire.” The record number of people in attendance for the fundraiser was 2300 set in 2020.
