The Washington YMCA is gearing up for swim lesson season in their new aquatic center. Swim lesson registration opens on January 20th for members and January 27th for non-members. These lessons are expected to fill up quickly. YMCA Executive Director Amy Schulte shares that with the new aquatic center, registration will be required for all swimming activities, “Check in with us, if you are interested in using the pool, we are requiring people to register ahead of time, because of the high demand that we are expecting. So if there are any questions that anyone has, reach out to us ahead of time. That’s one of the things I would probably encourage everyone to plan ahead for.” If your child has never participated in a YMCA activity and is not a member, parents will need to fill out a non-member application in advance. Visit the Washington YMCA before registration day to provide your child’s information. When signing up your child for swim lessons, register them for the appropriate level based on their swimming ability, rather than selecting a class solely for its day and time. If you are unable to secure a spot in this session, they will offer indoor swim lessons every month.
