Area sharpshooting stars shared the spotlight last Saturday inside Tim Grady Gymnasium in Wellman when the Golden Hawk Archery Club hosted their home tournament.

The Washington Demons competed, winning four team championships and one individual title. The High School Demons were bullseye team champs with a 3277, beating Mid-Prairie’s 3257. Top girls performer was Kamryn Williams third with 280 and 16 tens. Other top tens were Gabrielle Andrew fourth, Ryen Pepper fifth, and Charlee Read 10th. For the boys, top score was Jace Sanders fourth at 274 with 14 tens, followed by Layne Moore sixth, Mark Chenoweth eighth and Ethan Hotchkiss 10th. In 3D, the Demons were runners-up at 1645, led by Andrew third for the girls with a 275 and 11 tens. Hannah Lipski was fifth. For the boys, Ethan Hotchkiss shot 279 with 15 tens for fifth, Blaine Hodson was sixth and Chenoweth eighth.

The Middle School Demons were team 3D champs with their 1575 mark. Zach Hotchkiss was boys runner-up at 276 with 14 tens, followed by Hunter Barnes fourth and Braxton Rich fifth. For the girls, Lilith Hernandez was third at 263 with nine tens, followed by Kaelyn Wullner fourth, Addyson Neer fifth and Bella Venenga sixth. In bullseye, the middle schoolers were second at 3065, Zach Hotchkiss was fourth with his 277 and 12 tens for the boys, followed by Hunter Barnes fifth and Jordan Thorius ninth. For the girls, Hernandez was ninth at 255 with four tens.

The Lincoln Demons swept the team titles, winning bullseye with a 2726. Aly Black was girls individual champ with a 245 and four tens. She was followed by runner-up Kaylee McFarland. For the boys, Logan Hotchkiss was runner-up with a 245 and six tens, followed by Logan Hotchkiss second, Jackson Miller third, Michael Corso fourth, Javier Palacios sixth, Jayse Thorius ninth and Clark Marsden 10th. In 3D, Lincoln’s winning score was 1359, beating Albia’s 1290. Logan Hotchkiss was runner-up at 251 with eight tens for the boys, followed by Jayse Thorius third, Kooper Barnes fifth, Javier Palacios sixth, Lawson DeWolf eighth and Keegan Boshart 10th. For the girls, Kaylee McFarland was second at 200 with six tens, Baylor Stromwall was sixth.

At their home tournament the High School Golden Hawks were team 3D champs with their score of 1666. Elijah Statler won individual gold for the boys with a 287 and 22 tens. He was followed by Johnathon Pickard second, Landon Kuenster fourth and Nicholas Kelley seventh. For the girls, Morgyn Nafziger was runner-up at 275 with 16 tens. Lael Seale was fourth, Sophia Puttmann seventh and Averi Janecek ninth. In bullseye, the Hawks were team runners-up at 3257. Johnathon Pickard was individual boys champion with a 281 and 17 tens. Nickolas Kelley was runner-up, Landon Kuenster third and Eli Conrad fifth. For the girls, Lael Seal’s 277 with 10 tens for sixth led the way with Averi Janacek seventh and Ava Miller ninth.

The middle school Hawks swept all of the bullseye championships, winning the team race at 3193. Boys champ was Nolan Mohling with a 281 and 15 tens, followed by runner-up Noah Coblentz, Joshua Seale third, Braxton Ropp sixth, Preston Ford eighth and Landon Allen 10th. For the girls, Mackenzie O’Brien was the individual winner with 274 and 15 tens with Lara Brenneman seventh.. In 3D, the Hawks were second overall at 1547. Noah Coblentz was the boys overall winner at 285 with 18 tens, followed by Landon Allen third, Braxton Ropp sixth, Mason Schneider eighth, Preston Ford ninth and Joshua Seale 10th. Lara Brenneman was girls leader in seventh with a 240 and five tens, Kylee Berry was ninth.

The elementary Hawks were second in bullseye at 2591 with Monica Beachy third for the girls at 232 with four tens, followed by Jenna Puttmann sixth, Ellie Rand seventh, Brielle Robertson ninth and Zayley Jaspering 10th. For the boys, Kinnick Carroll was seventh with a 235 and five tens. In 3D, Mid-Prairie was third with 1211. Monica Beachy was the individual girls champion at 206 with two tens, Brielle Robertson was fourth and Jenna Puttmann ninth. Boys leader was Kinnick Carroll seventh at 233 with five tens, Samuel Newton was ninth.

The St. James shooters competed and were fourth in 3D at 878, Misty Mei led the girls in 10th place with a 165 and two tens. Boys leader was Landon Jones 25th at 166 with two tens. In bullseye, Mei was fourth overall for the girls with a 229 and two tens, and Jones took eighth for the boys with a 232 and four tens.
