Join Washington For Justice as they commemorate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. On Monday, Washington for Justice and the Washington Public Library are sponsoring a Second Annual MLK Commemoration Day. They will be remembering and honoring the work of the great Civil Rights Leader, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The evening will include a “Tough Conversation” with two Iowa authors who write about racism and white supremacy in America: Dave Markward, author of ““From Dubuque to Selma and Beyond: My Journey to Understand Racism in America” and Steven Berry, author of “T.E.A.R.S” a novel about growing up in Iowa as an African American. The conversation will be moderated by Daniel Henderson, local resident, author, and Director of Washington for Justice. The three men are doing a series of events across the state of Iowa, seeking greater understanding and healing of the racial divide. The evening will begin at 6:30 p.m., and is free and open to the public.
