Adding an auditorium is a discussion being held by the Mid-Prairie school board. Mid-Praire Superintendent Brian Stone says they are in the early stages and he explains what the process is for the school. “We`ve got a facility committee that has been working for the last year and a half with approximately 24 community members, some administrators, some boards members and some staff that make up the facility committee. At this point this is in interest that has been from the facility committee that has been brought to everyone’s attention. We really want to pursue and gain additional information in regards to that. So we’ve actually set up a task force through the facility committee of people that have interest in what this looks like and we are actually going to tour some facilities that our current architect OTM has built and just get a feel for what we were really potentially wanting for Mid-Praire. Ultimately we got to get to what the dollar amount looks like. The interest of the board is they are looking to determine what type of commitment the board would be looking to make towards a community auditorium. This is definitely the early stages of this process, but it has been identified by the facility committee that this is a high priority. Along with potentially some additional classrooms at the high school. That is where we are at in this process”.
The school board will have a work session on January 27th, with their next regular board meeting on February 10th.
