The Winfield Mt-Union boys and girls basketball teams face a tough test tonight when they travel to Hillcrest Academy for a Southeast Iowa Super conference doubleheader with the Ravens. The WMU boys are 8-5 on the year and 8-2 in the conference. Their last game was a thriller right down to the wire as they edged out Lone Tree in OT 56-52. The Wolves are averaging 53 points a game, having a 39% field goal percentage and shooting 25% at the 3 point line. The Wolves leads the conference in steals per game at 11.8, while also getting 2.5 blocks per game. They also haul in 31 boards a contest, which ranks second in the Super Conference North. They have won 3 of their last 4 games. Since 2006, the Ravens lead the rivalry 27-9. Hillcrest has won the last two matchups. 

Hillcrest is 12-1 on the season, while being on top of the conference at 9-1. They got the win in their last game over Columbus 70-33. For the season, the Ravens are averaging a conference best 67 points per game.They also lead the conference in allowed points per game at 41. They  dish out 18 assists a night and also get 11 steals per game, which is second in the conference only behind the Wolves. The Ravens are first in the conference with 52.8% at the charity stripe. The Raven boys are led by senior Seth Ours, who is averaging 16 points per game, while also shooting 53%. Mason Bender takes care of down low for the Ravens as he averages 8 rebounds a game. Rowan Miller, the team’s point guard is dishing out a conference best at 5.8 assists per night. 

On the girls side, both teams are trying to break losing streaks. Winfield Mt-Union has  lost 13 straight. They are 2-13 on the season and 1-9 in the conference. They average 36 points per game and allow 52.1 points per game. They have 29% field goal percentage to go along with a 3 point percentage of 20%. In the rebounding department they haul in 31 boards a contest and dish out 9 assists. They average 9 steals per contest and turn the ball over 28 times a game. They lead the conference in blocks per game at 9.8.In their last game, they fell to Lone Tree 74-35. In the loss, they were led by Madison Kellogg, who had 10 points and Kynlee Buffington had 9 rebounds and 3 assists. For the season, Kynlee Buffington averages a double double with 13.7 PPG and 11 RPG, which is second in the conference. Madison Kellogg is second on the team as she drops 10 points a night. The Lady Wolves lead the series at 23-6 in the last 29, but Hillcrest has won the previous two  meetings. The last time the Lady wolves beat the Ravens was back on December 9th of 2023. 

The Lady Ravens are 5-8 on the season, 3-7 in the conference and trying to end a five game losing streak. In their last game they fell to Columbus 46-33. They struggled in the second half and were outscored 26-17. With 13 games down for the Ravens, they are scoring 47.6 points a contest. The Ravens are getting 32 rebounds and 13.8 steals per night. At the foul line, they are shooting 47.9% while also shooting 26% overall. Individually, they are led by Claire Withrow, who is averaging a conference best with 16.5 points per game. Malia Yoder is averaging 14.9 points per game and currently leads the conference in assists at 4.1, while also getting five steals per night. Delany Shaw, is averaging close to 10 boards a contest.
