Both Washington Demon basketball teams came up short Friday night at Keokuk. The Washington girls lost 63-44, falling behind 21-5 after a quarter of play and never getting closer than 13 points the rest of the way. Junior Adalyn Long scored 16 points to lead the Demons, who fall to 2-4 in the Southeast Conference and 4-10 overall.
The Washington boys would see an 11-point deficit after one quarter swell to a 37-14 lead for Keokuk by halftime, and the Chiefs would continue to roll from there on their way to a 71-35 victory.
Sophomore Nic Stone hit four three-point shots on his way to a team-high 12 points, while senior Logan McDole scored 10 for the Demons in a fourth straight defeat. At 3-3 in conference play and 5-7 in total, the Washington boys will next play Tuesday against Newton, while the Demon girls are in action this weekend against Oskaloosa.
