The Washington Chamber of Commerce hosted the first of three legislative briefing sessions on Friday. State Senator Dawn Driscoll and Representative Heather Hora spoke to a full room of constituents at the Washington City Hall Council Chambers about the first week of the legislative session. They each shared what committees they are on this year. After their introduction, the audience was able to ask questions or make statements. Questions ranged from upcoming bills such as a statewide cell phone policy for school districts, as well as a moratorium on new casino construction. While the questions ranged in theme, many of the answers were the same, Hora stated, “I welcome any questions, we just got a lot going on. It’s hard now because you focus on the committees that you’re in, and we won’t really caucus on other committee stuff until the bills start moving through, and we start caucusing before we start voting.” The next legislative briefing will be held on Thursday, February 20th beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the Washington City Council Chambers.
