On Saturday, January 18th Mid-Prairie hosted the 2025 River Valley Conference Large Group Speech Contest.
Mid-Prairie won two events with one of them being in the Ensemble Acting category, titled The Importance of Being British. The piece was performed by Tabitha Fisher, Niah Leaton, and Caroline Schrader, and was written by Mid-Prairie alumni Kyra Helmuth. The other event they won was Musical Theatre, titled Back to the Future, performed by Ryann Dolan, Tabitha Fisher, River Gehling, Wren Harris, Logan McClellen, Jeremiah Rempel, Caroline Schrader, and Georgia White.
They placed second in three events. The events were Readers Theatre, titled Nerdbullies and Other Strange Creatures performed by Brock Lowenberg, Fiona McClellen, Hunter Miller, Grace Puttmann, Lilly Redig, Diego Sanchez, Addison Skelton, and Parker Thomas. Ensemble Acting titled Medieval Medicine performed by Jillian Clark, Logan McClellen, Grace Puttmann, and Jeremiah Rempel. Group Improvisation, performed by Jillian Clark and Niah Leaton.
All other events that were participated in received division 1 ratings. Including, Ensemble Acting titled Sleepover From Hell, performed by Ryann Dolan, River Gehling, Wren Harris, Georgia White and written by school alum Kyra Helmuth. There were two other Improv groups that received division 1 ratings, the performers included, Rita Du, Greyson Ghumm, and Brock Lowenberg, Hunter Miller, Diego Sanchez, and Benjamin Trotta.
The Hawks will now take their talents to the Iowa High School Speech Association District Large Group Speech, which will take place at Clear Creek Amana on Saturday, January 25th.
