Water systems and wastewater treatment will be discussed by the Kalona City Council Wednesday evening. The city of Kalona will have their monthly work session at City Hall starting at 5:45 p.m. The three items on the agenda include the Yoder Property, water system improvements, and wastewater treatment facility improvements. City Administrator Ryan Schlabaugh explains the wastewater treatment project is expected to cost approximately $6.5-7 million and is being mandated by the DNR.

Following the work session, the council will hold its regular session at 7 p.m. One item on the agenda is updating Kalona municipal cemetery charges. They’ll also consider the bridge inspection program, a five-day liquor license, and will hear the annual update from Washington Economic Development Group Director Mary Audia.
