Grocery stores and food producers in small towns received $275,000 in grants from the state.  Twenty small businesses have received these awards through the Governor’s Empower Rural Iowa Initiative, including two in Washington County.

Freeman Foods in North English and Wellman received $25,00 and will be using the funds for an online ordering system.  JW’s Foods in Kalona received $25,000 for a locker system for online ordering.
