It was a Southeast Iowa Superconference sweep for the Hillcrest Academy Ravens Tuesday night Kalona, taking care of Wapello in a pair of games. The Raven boys were a 68-33 winner. Hillcrest won each of the first two quarters 19-11 to go up 38-22 at half. The lead grew to 19 after the third and the Ravens put it away with a 20-4 run that spanned the full fourth quarter, enacting the running clock late. Hillcrest shot 50% as a team, with 21 assists and 15 steals. Mason Bender scored 14 and had eight rebounds, Rowan Miller finished with 12 points and eight assists, Seth Ours added 10 points and Kale Bailey four steals. The Ravens are 14-1 overall, 11-1 in the Superconference.
The Hillcrest girls scored a 52-40 win. Things were tied at 11 after one and Hillcrest trailed 19-16 at half. A 20-9 Hillcrest run in the third changed the game momentum, giving the Ravens a 36-28 lead going to the fourth and they pulled away from there. Malia Yoder led the Ravens with 20 points and Niva Helmuth got to double figures with 16. The Hillcrest girls are now 7-8 this year and 5-7 in conference. The two wins give the Ravens a boys and girls season sweep of the Indians and Arrows.
