A man who led authorities on a high speed chase in Henry County in the fall has been linked to a murder in West Liberty. On Friday, the West Liberty Police Department announced that Brady Grimm killed Susan Sam Fittro on September 5th, 2024.

Authorities stated that the incident began with a domestic disturbance around 3:30 p.m. in Mt. Pleasant at Grimm’s home. He then drove to West Liberty and shot Fittro, who was the girlfriend of Grimm’s deceased father.

Grimm then returned to Henry County and at approximately 6:30 p.m. that evening he fled from Mt. Pleasant Police who were investigating the domestic disturbance at Grimm’s house. A high-speed pursuit followed with Grimm firing at officers in their patrol car. He eventually lost control of the vehicle near the intersection of Highway 218 and 185th Street. Officers approached the crashed vehicle and found Grimm deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

At approximately 11:40 p.m. Fittro was found deceased at her home. Lifesaving measures were attempted and emergency services were contacted. Fittro was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities explain Grimm’s identity was withheld as there was no longer a threat to the public and allowed for time to follow up on investigatory leads and the completion of forensic examinations.
