The Washington Demon boys’ wrestling team was short-handed but still very productive at the two-day John J. Harris Invitational Friday and Saturday at Southwest Valley High School in Corning. Leading the way was Aaron Boone, who was the tournament champion at 132 pounds.
After a double-bye into the quarterfinals, the senior won by technical fall and would do the same in the semifinals before winning a 12-0 major decision in the title bout. Boone improves to 31-1 and wins his third tournament of the season for Washington.
Joseph Schreiber also finished in third place at 106 lbs for the Demons, while fellow sophomore Blaine Rees was fourth at 165 and senior Nate Edmonds took fifth at 113.
Sophomore Greyson Hartman ending up sixth at 215 lbs means all five wrestlers for Washington earned a medal, a big reason the Demons still ended up seventh in the team standings. Washington will next wrestle Thursday in a duals quadrangular at Williamsburg.
