Wellman farmers Pat and Krista Gent were honored with the Iowa Mater Pork Award. On Thursday, January 22nd, at the Iowa Pork Congress banquet the Gents received the award. The award recognizes individuals and families who excel in pork production, as demonstrated by outstanding production practices, commitment to We Care principles, and meaningful contributions to their communities. The Gents are pork producers in Washington County. Pat Gent went to Iowa State University and worked at John Deere for a few years, before returning home and farming with his brother, Jared. Gent is a third-generation farmer. Gent serves as the president of the Iowa Pork Producers Association. 

The Iowa Master Pork Producer Award has been presented to farmers annually for 83 years.
