The undefeated season for WACO Warriors senior Louden Huisenga rolled on Saturday at the Kurt Hinschberger Invitational in Belle Plaine as part of a busy weekend of local boys’ wrestling.
The top-ranked wrestler in the state in Class 1A at 190 pounds won the tournament championship in that same weight class, defeating both of his opponents by fall after reaching the semifinals with a double-bye.
Along with Huisenga improving to 27-0 this season, fellow senior Gage Samo pinned his first two opponents at 120 lbs before winning the title for the Warriors by claiming a 12-3 major decision in the finals.
Freshman Ian Maize nearly added another championship crown for WACO at 106, but he would drop the title bout by the slimmest of margins, a 2-1 decision.
Junior teammate Harley Larrimore ended up in third place at 175, while Tommy Unternahrer was fourth at 285 and fellow sophomore Braxton Stauffer finished fifth at 165 for the Warriors.
