Two Wayland men are facing felony charges following an incident on the Iowa City Pedestrian Mall. According to Iowa Court records, 21-year old Landan Provino and 22-year old Ryan Maschmann have each been charged with willful injury causing bodily injury and participation in a riot, both charges are class D felonies.
According to authorities, at 12:11 a.m. on Saturday, December 14th, 2024, the initial incident occurred. Records state the act was committed “with the intent to cause serious injury and cause bodily injury” and they “willingly join[ed] in or remain[ed] a part of a riot by assembling with multiple other persons in a violent manner.”
Provino and Maschmann were arrested on January 17th. On January 14th a search warrant was executed on property belonging to Provino, including a Snapchat account.
Arraignment for Maschmann has been scheduled for February 10th.
Iowa City Police are continuing to investigate. They are seeking information from the public related to this incident, including a third person who is shown in a red coat in these photos. Anyone with information should contact the Iowa City Police Department.
