Washington County producers have been presented awards by the Iowa Pork Producers Association. 

The Bell Ringer Award recognizes and honors women in the pork industry who have excelled in promoting and educating the area about pork. Jennie Greene was awarded the Belle Ringer Award from Washington County. Greene has served on the Iowa Pork Producers Association board for four years, which included serving as secretary and vice president. She is involved in many programs in the pork industry, including the Pork in the Pantry which is a program that donates pork to pantries in the local area.

The Hog Wild Award Winner is Chad Berentschot of Washington County. Berentschot has served on the board for seven years. Over the years, he has been the vice president, treasurer, and fair board member. 

Washington was also one of five counties to receive the County Involvement Award. Counties earn points through pork industry and products promotion, and by creating events for their communities. 

Washing County received over 2,000 points for the awards and were awarded $1,000.
