A Wellman man was arrested on a felony stalking charge Friday. At approximately 4:36 p.m. on January 30th, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a wanted subject at a residence in Wellman. They arrested 36-year-old Nicholas Smith on two Washington County warrants. The first was a warrant for stalking and violation of a protective order, a class C felony, and the second was for conspiracy to commit a non-forcible felony, a class B felony. According to court records, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant to seize Smith’s cell phone and conduct a forensic download. Numerous messages about the protected party and pictures of protected parties’ homes were found on the device. Smith was taken into custody and later bonded out. His preliminary hearing was set for February 10th. KCII will bring you more information as it becomes official.
