As ice accumulated across the KCII listening area Wednesday night, there were many wrecks reported in Washington by the County.
One incident closed the northbound lanes of Highway 218 near Crawfordsville for more than two hours. The wreck occurred at 7:15 p.m. and only involved one semi, with no injuries reported. According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, the roadway was clear after the incident but was effectively shut down due to the ice. The semi had been pulling two trailers, and they were towed when the roadway improved. Responding to the incident was the Iowa State Patrol, Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Washington Rescue, Crawfordsville Fire Department and QRS.
There were six other traffic incidents that occurred, according to Washington County Dispatch, including one semi roll-over in Wayland, and one jack-knifed semi at the southbound exit from Highway 218 to Highway 92. No injuries were reported at any of the incidents.
