The PAWS & More Animal Shelter in Washington, reported fewer intakes for the county to the Washington County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday. PAWS & More Shelter Director Amber Talbot gave the report, “Your guy’s numbers for this year, the calendar year, are down a little bit compared to 2023. Not sure, you know I think there is never really a specific reason to know why animals come in or don’t come in, but you know one situation can make those numbers change significantly like what we saw with the City of Washington this year and that situation of the twenty-nine animals in one residency, you know. It doesn’t take much to make those numbers move.” The shelter is looking to the future in Washington, as they hope to be able to break ground on the construction of their new five acre facility on the Southwestern edge of Washington in May.
