With warmer temperatures arriving, ice is melting at Lake Darling. Temperatures warmed up earlier in the week, with the thermometer reading above average to begin February. Ice is getting smaller at Lake Darling according to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources. Currently, ice around the edges melted around the lake. The Iowa DNR advises to use caution when getting on the ice. Holes around the ice have gotten bigger as geese are leaving the lake.
Recently angles have found success catching bluegill.
