Both the Columbus Wildcats and Lone Tree Lions suffered boys’ basketball losses Friday night in the annual Southeast Iowa Super Conference Shootout.

Columbus fell to Van Buren County 80-54 after an early four-point deficit swelled to a 40-21 hole at halftime, one they would not climb out of. Junior Drew Totemeier led the Wildcats by scoring 21 points as Columbus falls to 6-14.

Lone Tree lost to Danville 61-41, but the Lions hung tough early, grabbing a four-point lead after one quarter of play. Danville would finish the first half on a 12-4 run to go in front 23-19, but it was the 20-8 run they used to close the game that gave the Bears the win.

A loss drops Lone Tree to 6-13. Both teams wrap up the regular season with conference games Tuesday night, as the Lions visit the Highland Huskies and the Columbus Wildcats travel to take on Louisa-Muscatine.
