The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys basketball team meets the Fairfield Trojans tonight in their final tune-up before the playoffs. The Hawks are 17-3 on the year, 10-2 in the River Valley Conference after a 67-58 win at Iowa City Regina Friday where Bryce Henry led the way with 22 points. This year, the Hawks score 68 per night and give up 55, shooting 45% from the floor, 35% from three and 72% at the line with 32 rebounds, 14 assists, eight steals and 12 turnovers per game. Head coach Daren Lambert joined the KCII Postgame Show in Iowa City Friday to talk about the win.

Lambert said, “I’m proud of the effort that the kids put in together this win (over Regina). It’s about toughness, not only a mindset but, the physicality of the game we have seen recently, and we have responded. I’m happy for the success these guys have had and that everyone has played a part!”

Fairfield is 5-13 on the year and 3-5 in the Southeast Conference after a 57-54 loss at Burlington Friday. The Trojans score 49 per night and give up 57 on 39% shooting, 27% from three and 53% at the line with 27 rebounds, 12 assists, nine steals and 12 turnovers per game. Individually, Riley Perkins scores 15 per game with four assists and two steals. Lucas Konczal averages eight boards per game. The Golden Hawks have won back-to-back games in the series including a 65-55 victory a year ago.
