With the regular season coming to a close soon, the Keota Eagle boys basketball team picked up a convincing late regular season win over Highland in Riverside last night 80-46.

The Eagles controlled the action early on, winning the first quarter 21-13 behind 11 rebounds, most by Billie Kindred. Keota poured on 25 more points before halftime to push their healthy advantage to 24 at the break. Out of the locker rooms, the Eagles went right back to work, outscoring Highland by 11 in the third to get the running clock activated. The Huskies would outscore the Eagles in the fourth, but the 35-point gap after three frames was more than enough to get Keota the victory.

Unofficially, the Eagles finished plus-20 on the glass and won turnovers by five. Leading the way for Keota was Kindred with 30 points, 23 coming in the first half. Teammates Porter Cave and Chase Haifley added 12 and 11, respectively. Haifley joined KCII Sports live on the postgame show to talk about the preparedness of his squad. “We always come out prepared. We’re always ready to play. We’re always excited. You know, we always come in knowing what we’ve got to do, and we try to come out and take care of business every night,” Haifley said.

Highland was led by Bryce Hazelett’s 23.

With the win, Keota is now 17-3 on the season, while Highland drops to 1-19. The Huskies will face Lone Tree for their regular season finale tonight, while the Area Game of the Week follows Keota to Eldon for a doubleheader with the Cardinal Comets tonight in a game you can hear on the KCII3 Stream with pregame coverage at 5:30.
