The Washington Demons will try to finish off the girls’ basketball regular season with a home victory when they host conference rival Burlington tonight on KCII.
Washington comes in with a record of 6-14, including a 4-5 mark in the Southeast Conference, and is trying to bounce back from back-to-back losses, including a 57-45 defeat last time out Friday at Fort Madison.
The Demons have been a strong defensive team, giving up only 42 points per game, but they’re trying to find the offense to complement it. Junior Adalyn Long leads the team in scoring by putting up 12-and-a-half points per contest, while seniors Lauren and Kendall Hinrichsen combined to pour in 23 points on Friday.
Despite their offensive struggles, Washington head coach Shannon Rugg tells KCII Sports that he believes his team is capable of winning any game they play.

The Demons are taking on a Burlington team that is 14-5 and is one win away from an outright Southeast Conference championship. The Grayhounds are an equally stingy defensive squad that allows only 44 points a game, while junior Mylee Stiefel scored nearly 19 points per game to pace the offense.
Washington fell at Burlington 49-36 when the two teams met last month. You can catch Demon basketball on KCII this evening on 106.1 FM and streaming on KCIIradio.com and the KCII app, starting with the Countdown to Tip-Off at 7 o’clock.
