The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk large group speech teams found success at the state large group speech contest recently. Eight Mid-Prairie groups competed on Saturday at Cedar Rapids Washington and seven of those groups received division 1 ratings. Four of the groups have earned nominations to participate in the Iowa High School Speech Association Large Group All-State Festival in Ames on February 22nd.
Speech Coach Christine Meader explains that only the top five percent of IHSSA performers across the state earn All-State nominations. The Golden Hawk groups that will perform in Ames are the Musical Theatre with Back to the Future, and Ensemble Acting with The Importance of Being British. In addition Ensemble Acting with Sleepover From Hell and Group Improvisation of Jillian Clark and Niah Leaton are being recognized at the All-State Festival.
