The Washington Demons will try to get a win in their final conference game of the boys’ basketball season when they host Burlington tonight on KCII. Washington is 4-5 in the Southeast Conference and 8-11 overall coming into this evening.
The Demons fell last time out against Fort Madison, but it was only a three-point loss in double overtime. Senior Logan McDole was phenomenal on the road, pouring in a career-high 34 points at Fort Madison to build on his team-high averages of nearly 13 points and three-and-a-half assists per game.
Sophomore Nic Stone has been a high-level three-point shooter for Washington and adds nearly 10.5 points per contest, while junior Drew Conrad is also nearly putting up double-figure scoring.
Demons head coach Collin Stark tells KCII Sports, even with the heartbreak of last Friday’s loss, his team is rounding into form ahead of the postseason.
“We’ve got to make sure that we keep things in perspective,” Stark says. “We have played two really good basketball games [in the last week], and we’re playing our best at the right time.”
Washington will be taking on a Burlington team that is 5-13, but all five wins have come in conference play. Senior Nehemiah Lewis leads the Grayhounds with nearly 14 points and seven rebounds a game.
The ‘Hounds knocked off the Demons 59-54 when the two teams met last month. You can catch Washington boys’ basketball on KCII tonight starting with the Countdown to Tip-Off at 7 o’clock on 106.1 FM and streaming on KCIIradio.com and the KCII app.
