A longtime, former legislator who represented portions of southeast Iowa passed away on Thursday. Dave Heaton was a State Representative for 24 years.  Over his tenure he represented all of Henry County, and portions of Washington, Lee and Jefferson counties from 1995 to 2019. 

He was born in Sigourney. Heaton owned and operated a restaurant in Mt. Pleasant. He was 84 years old and passed away in Mt. Pleasant. 

A funeral has been scheduled for March 1st in Mt. Pleasant, with visitation February 28th.
