Dangerous wind chills are expected across the area through Thursday, according to the National Weather Service in the Quad Cities. We will continue to see this very cold air through at least midweek, with wind chills remaining 15 to 25 below zero during the overnight and morning hours. Frostbite can occur on exposed skin in as little as 20 minutes. Rapid hypothermia is possible if exposed to these temperatures. Dress in layers including a hat, face mask and gloves if you must go outside. Keep pets indoors as much as possible. Make sure outdoor animals have a warm, dry shelter, food and access to unfrozen water. Make frequent checks on older family, friends and neighbors. KCII will keep you up to date on all weather information including cancellations and delays.
