The 2025 State Wrestling Championships wrapped up over the weekend at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines. Four local athletes found their way to the medal stand.

WACO senior Louden Huisenga finished a perfect 42-0 season by winning his 190lb Class 1A state championship match 7-6 over Gatlin Rogers of Wilton.

His Warrior teammate, freshman Ian Maize reached the championship match, before falling in 6-3 sudden victory to Kaiden Belinsky of Don Bosco.

WACO’s Gage Samo made it three pieces of hardware headed back to Wayland after reaching the podium in sixth.

Washington’s Aaron Boone finished out his career on the medal stand, placing third. 

Also competing from the area at state were Highland’s Landon Bell and Cash Cole, Lone Tree’s Brock Nebergall and Sigourney-Keota’s Owen Menke. Find match-by-match results for each wrestler, free, on our website at KCIIradio.com.
