
Most of Iowa remains abnormally dry at this time with drought conditions increasing in the last week. According to the National Drought Mitigation Center, 1.3% of Iowa is in severe drought, 72.7% is in moderate drought, and 85.5% is abnormally dry. The amount of the state in moderate drought increased by 11% from last week to this week. The area of severe drought is in northwest Iowa.
Most of Washington County is abnormally dry, as are Keokuk and Louisa counties. Johnson and Iowa counties are experiencing abnormally dry conditions in their southern areas with moderate drought to the north. Henry and Jefferson counties are not experiencing drought conditions at this time.
